National Honor Society (NHS)

For sophomores, juniors, or seniors to be invited to join NHS they must have a cumulative grade point average of 90 or higher. During the application process each invitee must demonstrate a commitment to community service, leadership in both school and community, and good character. Applications are reviewed by NHS advisors Kirsten Surprenant and Gail Keefer and Academy faculty make the final decision. Each NHS member is obligated to maintain a 90 average each marking period, complete at least 36 hours of community service per year, participate in group service projects, and continually exhibit good leadership and character. This year NHS will continue the tradition of raising money for the Louise Richardson Memorial Scholarship which was started by NHS member Josh Larabee in 2003. You will see NHS members collecting loose change at the door of each varsity basketball home game this season. Recently, NHS members assisted with the set up, serving, and clean up of the Harvest Dinner.
