Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is already here. During this holiday season, there are many reasons to give thanks. I am thankful for a wonderful family and an amazing job. I am also thankful for the beautiful community we have created here at Westshire.

Last Tuesday, our 4th graders excitedly waited at the door to greet guests for our annual Harvest Dinner. More than 150 people, including 65 grandparents and mentors, enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey and all the delicious fixings.

After eating lunch and sharing cookies for dessert, our guests enjoyed listening to our 3rd & 4th grade chorus sing “This Land is Your Land.” The luncheon ended with great anticipation as the 1st/2nd graders chose the winners of our homemade pumpkin pies. The pies were especially scrumptious because all of the ingredients were grown and harvested in our own school gardens. Congratulations to our three pumpkin pie winners!

A HUGE thanks to all our staff, especially our chef, Ms. Pauline, and our students for making this year’s luncheon so memorable.

I wish all of our families a healthy and happy holiday weekend! Enjoy the best parts of Thanksgiving—spending time with family, eating yummy turkey and watching lots of football!
