Mrs. MacQueen's Monday Musings

January 20, 2014wse012014

The Winter Program is in full swing and going extremely well. Students have been enjoying their time skiing and skating, and those who remain here at school have been participating in activities like crafts, cooking, art, and gym/ board games. Last Thursday, with the tiny amount of snow left on the ground, students ventured on the hill to go sledding. It was great fun for everyone!

We were proud to welcome Rebecca Holcombe, Vermont's Secretary of State, who recently visited our

pre-school classes. Mrs. Holcombe, who was the Fairlee Principal at the time of Rivendell's inception, was greeted with excitement as the children couldn't wait to show her science experiments and share their favorite books.

Scholarly work can be seen and heard in the halls and classrooms of our school. The Kindergarten class recently hosted their annual "Me Museum" which included a writing piece and personal objects brought from home. The 1st and 2nd grade classes have begun their Native American unit and are constructing their Plimoth Plantation village, and the 3rd and 4th graders are writing opinion pieces in language arts and experimenting with electric motors and circuits in science.
