A Friday Hello from Mrs. MacQueen

Music is in the air at Westshire!

Twice a month we celebrate music with REP, music repertoire. We share our love of music through song and dance. Sometimes certain grades or classes present what they have been learning in music class. On Monday, Ms. Helm hosted her first REP and we had a great time. The fourth graders sang “This Land is Your Land,” and did a fabulous job! Ms. Helm had her technology ready and we were delighted to watch an episode of “Cello Wars,” where two cellist compete by playing music from Star Wars. We always end REP by singing the Westshire Spirit Song. Ask your child to sing it to you!

We are excited to have our students participate in an awesome winter program at the Hulbert Outdoor Center. Next Thursday and the following Thursday, students will be bussed to the facility where they will participate in activities like ice skating, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. The permission slip and waiver was due back today. If you have not done it yet, please have it completed by Monday. Students will not be allowed to attend without the registration forms. Also, please make sure your child is properly prepared for outdoor activities. All skaters must bring a helmet and skates if possible, although there may be some skates available. A huge thanks to Rivendell Rec and The Aloha Foundation for creating this amazing Hulbert experience for our students.

Annual Snowshoe-a-thon is coming!

Join us and snowshoe from the Vershire Town Center to the Mountain School on Saturday, February 20th. Children, families, and community members are encouraged to get sponsorship to raise money for VERSHARE, the community organization which runs and supports many community programs including a free children's summer camp each August and special projects like our very own Westshire gardens. Mountain School students will host a hearty lunch and a winter carnival for children and their families at the end of the snowshoe. It is a lot of fun and would be even more so if more Westshire
families participated.
