Counselor’s Corner

Guidance consists of working with all students to help them academically, personally and socially. Counselors help students:

  • do better in school
  • build positive self-images
  • enjoy good relationships with others
  • develop good feelings about work, family and community

This week in grades K-2 we have been learning about feelings. We were “feelings detectives” who looked at each others' faces to guess what others were feeling. This is empathy. We can use empathy to make friends, and work on problems when they arise.

In grades 3-6, we participated in experiential lessons, in which students were active during the lesson and learned-throughdoing. Activities and games focused directly on themes of inclusion, citizenship, and who am I.

It's been fun, and the kids have been great!
